Lame Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday (Thursday) i decided after nap time, to take the kids to a pumpkin patch. We were just going to go to one near by and meet up with my parents for supper. Well it was a complete bust. Actually the kids really didn't care but i didn't even feel safe there. Granted the corn maze was all blown over after the hurricane gusts winds we had a couple days ago, it just was not enjoyable.
Both kids are scared of anything and everything. Aside from the pumpkins, which some can scare C'man, they just don't like it. C'man is totally freaked out and Miss A is too b/c he is. Here's a video clip of us in the corn maze.

Today we will go trick or treating. I don't like Halloween either, but it's what kids do. Miss A will have a blast. Here she is trying on her costume this AM:

C'man is 'supposed' to be a lion, the same one he was last year. But i truly don't think he'll get near the thing. I suspect he'll stay in the car while Miss A and I go around. No amount of candy will get him going I'm afraid. Poor child.

And then, at the risk of loosing whatever i can loose by doing this, and at the request of umm..a certain SOMEONE, no names, TIM, I'm posting the video of the afternoon we had a mouse in the house. But first let me say, a mouse in the house, on a farm, is not an unheard of occurrence. They get in thru the tinest holes. I don't set traps (DH's job) b/c if they go off I'll scream so loud you'll hear me where ever you're reading this. BUT i will use a sticky trap. Taren't the best of options b/c the mouse can still get away with that thing stuck to them. With the help of Kdee 'aka' Fat Dog, we caught the damn thing. C'man was no help. There he stood on the chair telling me to get it. After i caught it it was still alive and hanging by its tail, i showed C'man. Now you can watch the video. Now seriously you all HAVE to leave a comment after this. I'm baring my messy house, the rodent in my house, and me freaking out. That ought to warrant something, besides my arrest, right?? Happy watching!!

I'm sorry i can't get this video downloaded. I already had it downloaded prior to trying here. So here's the url and you'll just need to copy and past it into your browser. Trust me it'll be worth it.

Why I'm Voting....

McCain/Palin. Yeah i know, should come as no surprise and took little, no no thought, at all. And here's why you should: (if you don't care to read this scroll down to the bottom, kid talk there)
Are you pro-life? do you believe and unborn child should not be at the mercy of his mother who made a choice to have unprotected sex. Yes i realize there is the rape/incest side of this too and that is just horrible. Makes me just want to vomit right here. I'd like to see percentages of abortions that are a result of incest vs just not wanting a child. Of course those % could be totally off b/c saying you were raped is an easy way out of a poor decision.
Gay Marriage. I don't care what anyone says God did not plan to have marriage b/w a man and a man, women and women, and on and on. Marriage is b/w a man and women PERIOD! I could go in to great depth on this one, but lets leave it at that.
Supreme Court Justice appointments. Do you want more liberal judges appointed to the courts? This country was found on the constitution. Don't want that anymore? Well here come in liberal judges to change that. I'm not saying we need all of them to be conservative, but we need to level out the playing field here.
Ahh yes the war. Who likes war? There is know one else I'd rather have as commander and chief then JMC. He has walked the walk. We leave this war in a couple months and we are opening up our country to an all out war. And I'm not talking on someone else's turf. Right here in our country will be war. Our national security will be compromised more then will ever be able to imagine. It's sad enough that our kids will grow up not remembering the 'good ol' days' when you could board a plane with a nail clipper, or pocket knife. But what will be coming there way if we walk/quit now. Frightening. I'm not sure what the answers are, i leave that to others far more knowledgeable then me, but we need to fight this fight. Finish what we started. We lost far to many lives to walk out now.
And one final thought if O'bama thinks he won this election, WHY on earth did he spend millions and millions on TV last night!? REALLY? you think this is right Mr Obama? Our economy is where it is and you think it's ok to pour money in to TV ads? IF you get elected why don't you take that money and put in to the economy? Put it in there now!

My disclaimer, if any comments (HAHA) should result from this i do have the right to delete them. I welcome your opinions and thought, JMC or O'bama but remember this i my blog:) hehehe got to go get my coffee now. I did this with NO caffeine even.

OH and politics aside. FINALLY taking the kids to a pumpkin patch today. Nothing great but they don't know any better so it'll be wonderful for them. DH is harvesting to it'll just be the kids and I. We are then meeting my parents and going out for supper. the kids get there Halloween presents. May be the only thing C'man gets as he is still deathly scared. Went to story hour at our local library and mid thru the book there was a ghost, witch, or something and he screamed and hid behind me. Actually everyone jumped after that incident.
I'm also happy to note that bedtime has been going better. May i tell you why?? DH isn't helping. I swear those kids have him wrapped on round his finger! You have to go potty? ok come on. You need a drink you say? OK lets get one! You want another book? Why I'd LOVE to!
Get out get out!!! I said. I'm in charge again. They've been going to bed much calmer. No 45 min of screaming from Miss A. IF C'man gets out of bed, i walk him back to his bed saying not a word. He even takes my hand. He knows! It's working quite well.
ACCEPT last night when Miss A nicely went to sleep and woke up when we went up to bed. DH went in there to see her. WRONG WRONG!! Needless to say we were up till 11-1130 with her. I was not happy one bit. In fact I'm not even sure what time she fell asleep. DH went in her room and sat in the rocking chair not saying a word. This was after she spent 30+min in bed with us.
Anyway, beautiful weather here. I got the garage cleaned out yesterday and it looks better, still needs so much done to it. I'm in contact with some kid that is looking for jobs during breaks at college. Hoping he'll insulate our ceiling and if he knows how to sheet rock, he can do that too. We have this beautiful garage with heated floors and it looks like crap in there.
I'm off now to get my cup(s) of Jo! Farewell my blog reader friends! Do drop in an leave comments. I see people coming over and getting more comments. Keep them coming!!
Peace out and VOTE JMC/PALIN!!!!!!!!!

Calling Nanny Stella.....

Do any of you watch this show? I do! And I'm trying to put what i learn to the test. AND IT'S NOT WORKING!!! I'm about to send in a video, call, whatever to get on the dang show. My kids used to be so good going to bed at night. Miss A you'd just lay down, with the light, fan and some music on, and before you'd hit the bottom step she'd be out. Mr. C'man-brush teeth, potty, pray & and book and a couple more minutes of the light on and he'd be out. He has struggled a little more with the bed time but Miss A, OH MY GOSH!

She screams now, she yells 'POTTY', and throws things out of her crib, oh wait she HUCK'S things out. I found a sippy across the room last night. Last night I decided (DH is asleep on in the chair and hears none of it-that selective hearing thing, any men out there want to tell me how I can get that??) to let her cry it out. Scream all you want child. Throw everything out go right on ahead. This is going to get nipped in the butt (is it bud??) right now. It was 45 min. of screaming! I finally went in there, gave her binky back, saying not a word, and left. She was exhausted i think.

With C'man the other night I caught him out of bed and i simply went up there, took him by the arm placed him back in bed and left. Careful to not say a word. IT WORKED! I think he was like hmm wonder why she's not talking or looking at me??

With both of them I'm trying the chart where they get a smiley face for going to bed good, and when they get 5 of them they get a prize. C'man doesn't want a smiley face, he wants a sad face!? I think on this one I'm going to have to actually get the 'prize' and show it to them letting them know they don't get it till they get 5 faces, whatever face they have.

So yes I'm thinking i need to buy a book or there help. I'll keep working at it and from watching the shows, it seems the crying fits usually get shorter each night. I hope so, like by 15 min increments please!

Remember to get out and vote! If you're undecided?? Get the information you need to educate yourself on the candidates and do it quick!

BFF's HEART McCain/Palin

Yes that was a sign I made today when BFF-S and I went to see Gov Palin speak. We couldn't be there at the butt crack of dawn to get really good seats. BUT we did get there by 945?? and there were 100's of people in line already. But we stood there and waited. We ended up sitting in over flow which was a school auditorium. While standing in line a gentleman selling bumper stickers said that in Omaha she came in and talked to the over flow. Well she did!! it was worth every minute waiting for her. Especially since there were only @ 250-300 of us there, maybe not even that many. WE could have shook hands with her if we wanted to. I was more focused on getting a good picture of her. Of which i had NO freakin luck. I HATE this camera I have. Please, if you have a really good camera, that's small, tell me what it is. I've had it. Can ya tell I'm pretty cross with it.

So yeah, it was great listening to her although i think her speech wasn't as polished as past ones I've heard on TV. She seemed like maybe she just got a new stump speech, or new information added to it?? just seemed a little off on a couple parts. Of course i don't know how she does what she does. I'd probably forget what I was running for. While I don't mind speaking in front of people i do have a tendency to forget things if they aren't written down:) But at any rate, she is just as amazing in person as she is on TV. Little Piper was with her and she couldn't wait to speak in to the mic. Here's video of it

So yeah we got to hear her in person and it was great. It would have been nice to be in the gym where all the action was, on stage maybe?! but we just couldn't get there any earlier with 5 kids we had to find sitters for.

Altho when Bush was in town 4 years ago I got to be on stage and shook his hand and Laura's. That was pretty neat and got some great pictures.

BFF-S and I got t-shirts and wearing them proudly. We had 6 hours of alone time with one another that was greatly appreciated. Afterwards we ate at a favorite Mexican Restaurant of mine and ended up giving 2 of the workers something to think about when they told me 'Obama'. I got a picture of C'man out and said let me quickly tell you how he came in to my life. His BM was going to abort. O'bama has made no attempts at even stopping partial birth abortions. Think my friend (sound like JMC saying that) of that unborn child when you go to vote. Think of that chance that they will never have to partake in such an honor (voting) if there mother chooses abortion.

The one worker looked like he was about to cry and the other said 'ya know I never thought of the abortion side of this election' YEAH think about the judges that will be appointed if O'bama gets in. Put the economy aside and think of where this nation will go. Forget about CHANGE for gosh sakes. We're going to get change regardless of who's in office. But change is all you'll have left for working as hard as you are if you vote O'bama. Wanna keep working your bum off so you can spread your wealth for those that don't want to work??

Oh i just usually write, spell check, re-read quickly, and post it! i don't usually go back and scroll thru my blog. I'll be doing that now!

Politics-ACORN

I organized my first political gathering, i guess you could call it that Tuesday AM. Our Congressman, Steve King, office called a week ago wondering if i could pull together a little town hall meeting for our county. Of course I wanted to. But i was a little worried about getting enough people there that it would be worth his time. Well it was a success, Larry you think so?? All i really did was find the location, food suggestions to the manager of the restaurant, and make phone calls. I'm so blessed to be on our Central Committee where i can depend on many of them to either come and/or, spread the word. There was 30 people there. I think not bad for being the 2nd smallest county in Iowa.

This was an opportunity for Congressman King to talk to his constituents about the upcoming elections. MAN!!! I know this ACORN thing has been talked about a lot but i guess i just never sat down and thought about it. So to help me out I emailed my buddy 'Doc' and here's what he said:
ACORN poses as a non-profit organization lobbying for equal rights, especially for the poor or under privileged. ACORN has received millions of tax-payer money as a result of hidden earmarks and pork in other bills. Obama has worked with in signing up voters for registration purposes and later served as an attorney for them. The first bailout package that was voted down with no votes by House Of Representatives such as Iowa Republican Steve King helped knock it down - one earmark was for ACORN to receive millions of dollars more. During their conventions, they have endorsed Obama which violates a non-profit principal of being political. ACORN has been found, this year, to have registered even more adults than there are in Alabama. This is happening in at least 14 states on a very visible level. States without ID's in many states can still vote - it's not a requirement - in Iowa, we have passed this law that an ID must be shown - in 26 states, no ID is required - in the 24 states that do require an ID, only 6 of them require a "pictured" ID - serious? You be the judge - sure looks to stack up for Obama - do a little of your own research and see how he won his first election as a state senator - then, check out how he became a national senator.

This is me now: The thing that gets me more then who these so called 'people' would vote for is how WRONG it is. It undermines our constitution. It's taking away what i think is a right, to vote. They are making it way to easy.

As Congressman King pointed out today, Mutt and Jeff can show up at the polls, ON ELECTION DAY, and vote. Now when asked for a form of ID and they don't have any, all it takes is for Mutt to vouch for Jeff and vice versa. THAT'S IT!! Go vote!

The worse part?? we can do nothing! UNLESS you want to go sit at your polling place and contest any questionable voter. They would still be able to vote, however there vote would be put in place where it would be investigated before it's counted. But who can go sit at a polling place and do this? AND would it do any good at all??

I find it pretty scary whats happening out there. I of course have no answers or solutions. I'd be best to not start thinking of solutions. It's bad enough around here when i say to my DH 'hey i have an idea' if i start throwing out political ideas he may very well send me to DC on a one way ticket. Actually HE is the one that has the great ideas when it comes to politics. He's pretty level headed on hearing both sides and making thoughts with everyones thoughts. views, etc in mind.

What do you all think if this ACORN situation? Does it scare you to think that come election day millions of votes could be cast by people that can't read, write, illegal citizens or heck may be even a dead gold fish!? No lie, they found a fraudulent vote in OH i believe, where the name was a dead gold fish! Heard it on XM radio yesterday.

I did find out Gov. Palin is coming this way Saturday. Oh how I'd love to see her BUT I'd have to be on the road by 7 AM, doors open @ 9AM and Palin isn't to speak till NOON! If i didn't have to find a sitter, or FF-S didn't have to too, we'd be there. But the last Bush event I went to we didn't get to sit on the stage like we did in the past. Instead we had to join everyone else on the floor. Standing for hours next to annoying or stinky people. I decided then, i was spoiled once by being on the stage (thanks to my Dad and his 'office' in politics) i'm not doing it again.

Random Friday Night Thoughts

I found this totally cool website for online scrapbooking It looks totally cool and something i could find myself spending hours and hours on. I've done the snapfish album and that leaves me stressed out, staying up late, and thoroughly irritated when pictures don't all download properly. Not a lovely sight at 1230 AM when you are already exhausted from just the day in general. So i will have to check this out in the days to come.

There is no TGIF when you're a SAHM. Seriously tho, think about it. There are days where i wish I could escape like I did while i worked. I was able to escape the demands, pressures, etc of my job Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No such thing now:) Not wanting to sound ungrateful, I'm not. I'm happy I'm home!!

My sister just called as I was typing this and another 'tiff' has arised b/w us. As my mother just told me 'Thanksgiving is going to be fun for you this year". Oh yes it will! Thanks for reminding me.

I was asked to get Congressman King signs out this weekend in two towns where i know like no body! I have left a message for our co-chair for the central committee and am hoping and praying that she can help me out.

I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed with everything not only with politics but life in general. C'man isn't sleeping all night waking up whatever time the monsters in his room wake him up. I'm still battling a kidney infection and while the pain is nothing compared to what I had Sunday night, I'm exhausted. If i didn't know better I'd think I was pregnant. I could sleep all day if i was allowed to! Feeling kind of nervous about what could be causing the exhaustion.

Then there's the purses. I have parties and craft fairs coming up like crazy! Trying to keep them all straight and ordering purses like crazy! I'm going to be sleeping in a bed of purses one of these days. Actually maybe I'll be taking a nap in a bed of purses:)

Speaking of bed, I must get there now! 6AM comes WAY to early. Gotta love waking up to the shouting of MOMMMMYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! POTTY!!!!! or whatever else that lovely daughter of mine can think of saying to get me out of bed!

More Apples

Ah yes yet another post about apples! This afternoon the kids and myself are going to press apples and make our own apple juice and cider! Remember back a couple weeks ago when the apple thief was at our tree? Well it's her house we're going too. She is no longer a thief but my friend now! Heck she called me and asked me to come over to her house and press apples while her kids watch my kids! Does that sound like a thief relationship to you??
The kids and I went to the neighbors this AM and picked more apples. These apples are HUGE!! I mean like GIGANTIC! I'll take pictures and post later. I had sheet rock buckets and I swear only 20 of them would fit in this 3 gallon bucket!
It was a cold morning tho. My daughter is just like me. We were out there 2 minutes and she was yelling COOOLLLLDDDD. She ended up in the van while I picked apples. I tried to get c'man to help but he was more interested in the work being done on the nearby grain bins. He was NO help.

I did get a call from our Congressman Kings campaign this AM to help pull together a little meet and greet the C'man THIS Tuesday. I'm excited about it. I finally get to do something! I'm waiting for the noon rush to be over with before calling and reserving the restaurant. I'll be posting more details in the days to come.

What's going on in your world folks? Is it Fall weather by you?
BFFE if you are reading this, I don't have your email address!! Please email me and your blog is taking me forever to download b/c of all the pics and videos. So it's been like months since i've read it:(

Just Another Day

We had pigs show up in our yard yesterday. For 2 hours I was out shooing those pigs away every 10-15 min. I called our neighbor to see if they were there's. He assumed they were and he'd be over to get them. Not sure how b/c they just would run back in the corn field. Well today they were back again. Enough was enough. They were destroying our yard.
DH thought he'd corner them in the garage and catch them that way. I flipped. I didn't want no pig running around in our garage. He'd NEVER catch them in there either. WAY to much stuff in there. So he decided to catch them and throw them INSIDE his pickup. Ever heard a pig bawl?? Listen to this:

Well guess what happened!? The dam thing locked the doors. I have to say i KNEW this was going to happen. It was just going crazy in there. oh and it pooped on the seat AND kicked the wind shield causing it to crack. I didn't know if i should laugh, cry or say i told you so. I did neither. Just kept my distance. OK so i know this looks like total hickville but really, it's hilarious and i hope you can see the humor and not think what kind of people are they!? This too is Jeff's old beat up pickup. He drives it a/b 6 miles every day. Nothing fancy and sure isn't now after having a pig in there!

Called the neighbor to see if he could please come over b/c these pigs were becoming dangerously close to being pork chops. He came, said nope they weren't his. But he helped catch the next one.

that one went in the dumpster! Luckily garbage pick up was Monday! here it is the pig being dumped in the dumpster!

So at last the pigs have been taken to the farm. We don't know who's they are and we will just put another 100lbs on them and get them butchered. The bad part is it's so expensive to butcher them and feed them now with corn prices where they are. But since we didn't have to pay anything for the pigs, i guess that makes it a little more justifiable. Oh and I'm SO not a pork person. Really don't like it one bit.

There you have it just another story about life on the farm! Never a dull moment around here and here's another 'story' that really fell in to our laps. Like getting the calf in that wasn't ours, and now these 2 pigs! See what i mean when i say drama finds ME!

I also gave a presentation at MOPS today about Infertility and Adoption. It went REALLY well! I had quite an interest and there were some tears shed. I was hoping to keep it together, but no luck. I'll share more another day.

When is enough enough?? I'm talking about the CCC I'm on. The Community Center board and Miss Personality. We are working on our annual Ladies Night Out. It's a night of shopping, wine tasting, and a great meal. Well last year i sold my purses at it, had a great time. Well this year since I'm on the 'board' I'll be helping putting it together. I said I'd take care of getting all the displayers of which I've been working on.
I didn't make Sunday nights meeting b/c of other things going on (harvest='s no DH, my parents were here, etc) So i told one of the ladies i have a group of displayers and it's all looking good. Yesterday i get a message from Miss Personality that she too has a list of people. LOVELY!! She had to remind me that there was a meeting Sunday night too!! I should have reminded her about the previous meeting that she wasn't at. But i digress.
We talk and sort it all out who's who'. I just got home now to another message saying that she has another lady that might be coming. Well this other lady sells jewelry and purses! I told her i don't think that's very fair b/c i sell the same thing she does and i was trying to stay away from doubling up. She said 'Rachel, that's not very fair. She's sold lots of cookbooks for us and I don't' think we can tell her she can't come' I said 'oh really.....' Why the heck was she even asked. So i just said 'OK!?'
All while I'm thinking, do i need to continue to deal with this crap. I get nothing but grief from her and I've had it. I have so much going on in my life that maybe i don't need to do this community center stuff any more. Seems all it does is bring me grief. But if i stop doing it what about my Zumba that i have going and going over VERY WELL!!! Or the circuits that we are doing on Thursday nights, or the number of memberships I've gotten. Who looses more, them or me?? Am I playing right in to her hands if i say I'm done!? I've just had it with one person and I'm not sure if it's worth me getting all worked up and tense about every time i hear her voice!
She's very snarky when she does talk down to me and yeah, when is enough enough? I'd love to tell her off. Would i ever.
Talk some sense in to me one way or the other.....now that I've vented I NEED to get working on my MOPS presentation for TOMORROW!!

Video

I'm busying working on my MOPS presentation about Infertility and Adoption and came across this youtube video on Wendi's blog. It couldn't speak the truth any better then i can write it!
How Does Infertility Feel
