The Call To Dunkirk

OK Homeschooling readers, and non, please tell me what you think of this. I agree with much of what is said just not sure I'm going to be able to home school my kids. I don't think our schools here in NW Iowa are that Liberal.
The video is @ 5 1/2 minute. But I really would be interested in what you think.I know I have at least 2 homeschooling mom's that read this.

There are some valid points: Culture is shaped by how we educate our children.
14,000 hours are spent in school
who ever controls the school (gov't) will control the children

I also thought the bible verses were good.

BUT!!!! I almost think the video was a little much. As I stated above, I don't think our schools HERE are in the liberal control that schools across the country are in. No, I don't like the amount of Government that is involved but I also know that without some Government, there is no telling what could happen. My BIL and SIL are both teachers. They are both great teachers, so I've heard:) I know our school district has great teachers and the idea of keeping my children from being taught by these great teachers and really learning, is something I need to do. I do not have it in me to home school. That being said, if there came a point in time where the teachings got ultra-liberal, I would most definitely pull my children out and figure out how to home school them.

I'm not opposed to those who do home school, my friend Shannan is, and I commend you all for doing it. I ask that if you do respond here, you do it respectfully for those who may be for, or are against, homeschooling. I'd like to hear your response to the video and know why you do, or do not, home school, but respectfully.

Wow! I enjoyed that little video. So very true. Did you know we sent our oldest to public kinder? We did. That was one misserable year. Not only did she take a giant leap backwards in her learning (I had already been teaching her at home before), she learned about gays and that it was ok, cuss words, adult issues and more. I was horrified at the things they were teaching in our little country public school system. Much of it was "required" learning. I just didn't send her to school at all for days at a time when those things came around. They just thought she was one very sick little girl a lot.
In the video, I like where he talks about the one day for God and the rest for public education. I totally agree with that. To me, personally, it's about responsibility. (each family must chose for themselves, so this is about ME and MY convictions only, so don't be offended)
God calls us to teach our children in the way they should go. To ME, that means teaching them in all thigns. Not just 'religion' on Sunday mornings and holidays. I struggled that entire kinder year with my heart and where I felt convicted. Homeschool won out after my husband finally saw what was truely being taught and what was happening to his little girl.
The gov't has it hooks into each and every public school in the nation. Evolution is the base for science and history. Creation isn't taught. How do you teach creation at home and get the evolution teaching out of their heads? It's hard to do. How do you teach them that God's design for marriage and gender have no gray area if that's what they are taught everyday at the school? Respect for yourself is the only thing taught at the school, not for your parents authority.
I'll shush now. I could go on forever about homeschool and gov't.
Oh...btw...we don't homeschool because we think the gov't is out to get us, it's a conviction. You could homeschool. I graduated high school and didn't go to college. With the complete curriculums out there today, anyone can do it. :) Ack...going now...
