This weekend was the big wedding of our dear friend. I've already posted about them so let me jump in and start the play by play of the BIG day. This will be a long post. Grab a beer, tea, water, whatever and come on in, relax and read on:)
We left our home around 230, right as planned. Well i guess it was closer to 245 b/c we spent that long trying to get one stupid cat out of our garage. (to which it won) After DH stopped to pay a bill in town, and I ran in to Caseys for a soda, i realized that I'd forgotten the wedding gift. So we hauled butt home where I ran in, got it and set forth again.
The ride to Columbus Nebraska was uneventful. The kids were great and C'man wore underwear the entire trip with no accidents. But i must say I can tell when I'm in Nebraska. The area we were in was quite a bit hillier then typical Nebraska but it just felt deserty (probably not a word) to us. There was lots of dust, some flatness, just felt 'hicky' sorry NE friends (BFFE). I'm sure others feel the same way about Iowa. We'd be in b/w towns and there would be 35+ miles before we'd hit another town. That being said, I did go to college in Nebraska and I'm going to have a post about that b/c we went thru the town. (DH went to college here too)
We quickly settled in to our room before heading for the rehearsal. Side note on the hotel, in the future we will get a suite. 2 double beds and a pack'n'play leaves NO room for anything. All I did for the rehearsal was eat:) Well and chase kids which became the #1 thing I did all weekend. After that the kids and I left to go back to the hotel. I took them swimming but Miss A wanted nothing to do with the water. I took her out of her swimsuit when i realized she was burning up. During the course of the next 10 hours her fever got up to 104!! I had to call DH and have him pick up Tylenol (couldn't find the one i packed) and a thermometer. We waited and waited for him. Most of the night was spent with her whimpering on and off. Finally at 530 I brought her in bed with me and she was just a furnace. I'm thinking that was when her fever 'broke'.
Saturday AM was up and at em as DH had to be at the grooms house at 830! The wedding started at 2. The kids and I hung out, I let C'man go swimming again. He has this great life jacket so he can be in alone, of course I'm sitting nearby. Miss A and I watched him swim and swim. Then being the great kids they are, they went right down for naps. There i sat wondering what I was going to do while they napped. I called my mom, out in the hallway, before coming back and sitting on a desk with my book up to the window so I could read. Those hotels sure have dark shades.
The wedding, well it was a Catholic wedding, so it was LONG. Oh my...we didn't last past the bride walking down the aisle. We retreated to the back row then out in the entry way. It was a beautiful church and was full of people. The 3 ushers had LOTS of work to do. I just still am in amazement at how long Catholic weddings our. Beautiful what I caught, but long:) Then the fun began. The get away vehicle wouldn't start. Below a picture of the men trying to get it going and then their off!

Eventually it started and off they went. They were so cute in there. The reception was about 20 miles away. (the pictures above are on our way) Somewhere in the middle of no where, was a trailer park that was so nasty i wouldn't let my dogs even go near. I wanted to take a picture but feared being hit was a slew of beer bottles.
But coming in to town we noticed lots of smoke. Once in the reception we heard the fire trucks going and here was a fire that got out of hand. It was within a football field of getting the first house in town!!
So the fun part. The bride is Polish so they had about 1 1/2 of polka music. (sorry but that is some kind of music, i think I'd rather listen to rap) They did this great wedding march. It was very entertaining, even the kids were in awe.

After that we got to eat. WE were lucky b/c we were the first table to eat after the wedding party. There were lots of kids there right around C'mans age. This little boy is the grooms nephew and i think he's the cutest kid EVER!!

Then his sister is also the most adorable little girl. She is the grooms special little niece. The bond these two have is pretty neat. Every chance she got she was with the groom.

Outside of the actual eating there were kids running around non stop. Every time I'd run around in a panic looking for C'man the bar 'men' would hand me another drink. After one particular panic i grabbed a drink only to return and request more alcohol please. I turned around and a couple older people were just laughing their heads off. But i was in severe distress. While there were people outside it didn't mean they'd necessarily be watching my kid. And with so many people he could hide so quickly. Before you start thinking whatever, I'd only had about 4 Fuzzy Navels and for as much running around as I did, I didn't feel like I had any alcohol in me.
The $1 dance is always fun. Do you all know what that is or is that a Midwest thing only?? Someone gave C'man a $1 and he was so ticked to dance with the bride. He wanted his $1 back tho so he could do it again.

I put in my $20 for a nice long dance with the groom. We talked about wondering if this day would ever come for him and he said 'you know, in my heart I thought this would eventually come, but in the back of my head i wondered if it actually would' and I walked away thinking i felt the same way about infertility.

Some pictures of the bouquet and garter toss:

Some kissin going on:

Eventually we had to leave b/c C'man had worn out his trips to the van to have a couple words, or as my friend calls it 'getting jacked up'. With 2 screaming kids we put them in there pj's and headed back. It would have been nicer to stay longer, or not to even have the kids, but we made do. It was great seeing all the Chvala's b/c it seems that weddings, and one funeral, are the only times we see everyone. They are a GREAT/WONDERFUL family 6 kids in 7 years!
All in all it was a fun weekend. It was truly a wedding to celebrate. These 2 are meant for one another. They seem to have it all together and I truly wish them the best of best. t
